Intense Pulsed Light [IPL] is a non invasive approach to treating dry eye syndrome, benign hyper pigmentation, vascular lesions, permanent hair reduction, destroying the P acne bacteria which is responsible for acne, and promoting more collagen beneath the skin's surface [skin rejuvenation]. IPL uses technology where light is converted into heat energy.  Treatments are like a camera flash lamp being held against your skin.  Selected light wavelengths target chromophores (color pigments) such as melanin in brown spots and freckles.  These light wavelengths can also target specific protein molecules in acne bacteria and in collagen.  IPL treats these conditions without disruption to the skin’s surface.  Skin rejuvenation [aka photo-rejuvenation] is a non-invasive, non-surgical face lift.  The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photodamage.

The STAAR Visian® implantable collamer lens [ICL] is often an option for vision correction in patients with thin corneas or who are extremely nearsighted. The procedure consists of placing a corrective lens, similar to a contact lens, inside the eye itself, instead of on the cornea. The ICL is implanted in front of the eye’s natural lens, but behind the iris, so that it is not visible to outside observers. This implantable lens is capable of correcting a higher degree myopia (nearsightedness: those whose distant vision is blurry) and/or astigmatism than does LASIK and, since the procedure does not involve reshaping the cornea through the removal of tissue, it can be performed on patients whose corneas are too thin for laser refractive procedures. Additionally, recovery is extremely fast and postoperative vision is very sharp. Visian® ICL is an outpatient procedure (the patient returns home the same day), and most patients see well enough to drive by the next day. By the way, unlike LASIK, the ICL procedure is completely reversible and does not cause dry eyes.

Botox injections are noted primarily for the ability to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles.  Ophthalmologists use Botox injections around or under the eyes to treat various conditions that impact vision. These include lazy eye, eyelid twitching, migraines, drooping eyelids, and excessive tearing or dry eyes. They're also used to treat conditions such as neck spasms (cervical dystonia). Botox injections use a toxin called onobotulinum toxin A to temporarily prevent a muscle from moving.  Botox injections block certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes.

Botox injections are also used to treat conditions that affect how the body functions.

"LASIK," which stands for LASer In-situ Keratomileusis, is a popular surgery that can correct vision in many people who are nearsighted (myopia) or farsighted  (hyperopia), or who have astigmatism. It is one of several, vision-correcting surgeries that work by reshaping your cornea, the clear front part of your eye, so that light focuses properly in the back of your eye, on the retina.   Some things you will want to know:

  • LASIK is a common surgical procedure that has been around for over 25 years.* About 96% of patients reach their vision goals afterward. An enhancement can raise this number even more.
  • There’s very little, if any, pain involved. and there aren’t any bandages or sutures.
  • If your vision changes as you age, your Premium Services doctor can adjust it.
  • Many people won’t need to use glasses or contacts, after LASIK

*Not everyone is a candidate for this procedure; our team can evaluate you simply and quickly.
